Introduction to Dressmaking with Leonie Fraser

Dates: TBA

Time: 9:30 setup for a 10:00am start until 2:30pm

Cost $235

Focus: Dressmaking with a purchased pattern

Note: the pattern pictured is a sample and may not be the actual pattern used in this workshop.

If you have wanted to make your own clothes and be sure that they will fit, this class may be what you are looking for.  On the first day, we will look at the information in the purchased pattern, then lay it out and make alterations to ensure that your finished garment will fit you.  At the end of the day you will be able to look for material to make your dress, and purchase it ready for the second part of the course.  We will then move on to laying out and cutting your fabric, and sewing your garment.  On the third day we will look at finishing techniques and finish your garment to a perfect fit.  We will all be using the same simple pattern for this class, but will look at variations and how what we have learned applies to other patterns and other garments.  One pattern can be made up into so many different styles that you will be able to have a whole new wardrobe once you start.

This workshop is limited to 4 people to allow everyone the room to lay out material and cut fabric during the workshop.

Level of skill required for this workshop: Suitable for beginners. Some machine sewing experience is an advantage, but not required.
