Time: 9:30am set up for a 10:00 start, finishing at 2:30pm
Class Focus: Sewing bags on your home sewing machine.
In this workshop we will be making a bag using jelly roll strips, bag foam and quilter’s cotton fabric that is a stylish addition to your shopping trips bound to get comments! This workshop is ideal for beginners and those who have made totes before but are looking for a different construction method to try. This tote has inset sides allowing it to keep its shape, and a construction method I predict you will want to apply to other projects. It is a bag you will want to make again once you master the techniques in this workshop!
Level of skill required for this workshop: Suitable for all interested sewists. Being familiar with your machine; knowing how to thread it, change the bobbin, stitches, and the presser foot; is important. While I will happily help you learn how, being able to use a rotary cutter, quilter’s ruler and cutting mat will assist with time management in this workshop.
This workshop will develop the following skills:
• Cutting and sewing on a bias.
• Preparing and organising materials.
• Using bag foam and interfacing
• Simple straight-line quilting using a walking foot
• Applying binding to a project
A materials list will be automatically be emailed on registration.
